Butterfly Pea Flower (Clitoria ternatea) is a plant native to Southeast Asia that’s commonly used in tea.Butterfly Pea Flower is full of health-promoting compounds, including antioxidants as well as pigments that allow it to naturally color foods and beverages.
Butterfly Pea Flower tea is also used for beauty purposes, contributing to healthy-looking skin, hair, and eyes. It’s sometimes combined with water plus an acidic ingredient, such as lemon, which changes the pH of water, so its color changes from blue to violet. Give it a try - it’s actually amazing!
In Ayurveda, Butterfly Pea Flower tea is called Anchan tea. It’s used in devotional ceremonies to represent protection, love, and peace. It’s associated with the powerful Hindu goddess named Aparajita (whose name means “the undefeated one”).
HOW TO USE:
Add 1/4 tsp to your favorite tea, lemonade, favorite meal, bath, face mask and beyond. Enjoy up to three times per day.
You can also use this beautiful flower in your bath. Add 1 tsp Butterfly Pea Flower in addition to Epsom salt and essential oils of your choice. Enjoy its deeply relaxing and restorative effects.
BLUE ROSE LATTE:
Freeze Butterfly Pea Flower tea in ice cube trays to make blue ice cubes. Hours later, blend 1 tsp Rose powder in a cup of plant-based milk of choice. Add sweetener if desired. Place the blue ice cubes into the latte. Enjoy!
